I have loved fitness and competition ever since I can remember. Being the youngest of three athletic girls I constantly competed with and tried to keep up with my older sisters in everything we did. Whether it was getting the highest score on a routine in gymnastics or being the fastest one to make it around the neighborhood on a bike, I have always loved the feeling of being active and striving to be the best you can be.

After graduating college I fell into the daily gym routine of 30 minutes of cardio followed by body part splits. I felt in shape but my routine felt redundant and old. After the birth of our second son, our good friends Jessica and Steve Pinkerton opened CrossFit Vitality. I was extremely skeptical at first to come try it out because I thought the workouts were too short to possibly give any kind of results. I finally gave it a try in June of 2010 and was immediately hooked. The variety of skills used on a daily basis kept me excited about coming and I loved the competition feel to each class that I went to. More than that though I fell in love with the community at Vitality. They became like instant family and continually inspired me and encouraged me in so many ways both mentally and physically. It wasn’t long before Jason and I started dreaming about having our own facility so that we could share this amazing “sport” with other people.

As a working mother CrossFit works so well for me because it not only gives me great results, but it does so in a short amount of time. I understand the daily struggle among so many working moms to truly “balance it all” and I believe CrossFit is a great fit for those wanting to find that balance. I also love the example that it sets for my two sons. I cannot imagine a better place for them to be than at a CrossFit gym where they can see people of all ages and from all walks of life, push themselves and reach their goals on a daily basis. I am so excited to share my love of CrossFit with the members of CrossFit Northlake. As a teacher there is nothing more satisfying to me than watching people reach their goals, build confidence within themselves and realize their true potential.
