January Bootcamp Transformation Spotlight

1. Who are you? And where are you from?
Stephanie Makled. I was born and raised in south Florida.

2. Lots of people want to get into shape or change their lives. What was your biggest transformation?
My biggest transformation has been the self confidence I’ve developed. I never would’ve thought I would be able to do half of the WOD’s we do but I can, I do and I love the challenge of it every day.

3. What inspired you to finally take action? And how long have you been working at this?
I started working on my physical health a few years ago. I did the circuit room and treadmill a few times a week at a chain gym. Needless to say it got pretty boring and I hit a plateau. I didn’t start working on my nutritional health until I did the Paleo challenge with Northlake. They’re right when they tell you, nutrition is 80% and exercise is 20%. Giving 100% is where the results are.

My two inspirations are 1. My mom. The women on my maternal side have passed away around 50 yrs old. I WILL NOT!! I will make her proud by taking care of this body she gave me. 2. My husband. His love and support is like nothing I’ve experienced before. He inspires me to be the person HE sees when he looks at me.

4. What are some of the major changes you made?
I’ve been working on my sleeping and nutrition habits. I may not get my 8 hours in every night and I may feel like I need French fries in my life but the next day is a new day to try harder.

5. What has been the high and low of this new lifestyle?
The highs are the people I’ve met and the goals I’ve surpassed. The lows would be the lack of sleeping in, I’m so used to getting up at 5am I can’t sleep in on the weekend…

6. How have you stayed motivated to continue?
Since the day I walked in I was addicted. 5-6 days a week that 60 minutes is where I clear my head. I’m so focused on trying to remember to breathe and count  reps I get lost in my head.

7. Where do you see yourself going from here?
I’m going to keep setting goals and expectations of myself to keep me on track. I get stronger everyday!!

8. What is the best piece of advice you can give to someone who wants to make a change but hasn’t found the spark to take action?
Remember what made you want to change in the first place and know that it isn’t a quick fix. This is an investment of time and tears but is so worth the rewards of how you feel about yourself.
