It’s Friday! Next up for QCFIT coaches experienc It’s Friday! Next up for QCFIT coaches experiences is JB!
Let’s hear from Jason! 👊🏾

I searched for 7 years for something that would replace my burning desire to compete at physical sport. I would lift at a Globo gym then play a few pickup basketball games.
Fast forward a few years later, Steve Pinkerton introduced me to his close friend FRAN.
Lets just say after 12 minutes and several water breaks, I FINALLY FINSIHED. HA!
This sport pushes me to be the best version of myself. This is what I teach my kids. No excuses, no one cares if you are not fast enough, strong enough, or smart enough. Find a way to get it done or learn from your failures and get better. This is why I AM DOING THE OPEN!

Let’s hear from Candice!

“Never let the things you can’t do stop you from doing what you can.” I lived by this quote for every competition I entered in the early days of my CrossFit journey. I laugh at it now because each time an event workout was posted, there was a skill I needed to learn, including CrossFit Regionals.

At my 2nd Regionals, I struggled with the 15 cleans because the weight was my one rep max at that time. In team practice, I got 11 cleans so my plan was to row and pistol quickly and get 4 more cleans under the cap.

I didn’t. I was also the last competitor on the floor and all the judges and eyes of the crowd were on me. It was one of my biggest fears to come true. I completed 13 cleans in that workout. I had given it my very best effort and that’s all CrossFit, anyone, or anything can ask of us.

I don’t know if I would’ve gone through with competing that year had I known I would be the last athlete on the floor. It would’ve been a huge mistake though and I would’ve missed out on an incredible experience. I didn’t leave Regionals feeling ashamed of myself or my efforts and no one remembers me as the woman who was alone and failing on the floor. Instead I was the woman who didn’t quit and fought for every rep.

The experience motivated me to continue training and it’s continued to be a reminder that with hard work and the right attitude, there’s not much I can’t do. Eventually.

Today we have @terrell_jr_ AKA Coach TJ! Let’s hear from TJ!

“I was truly excited to compete, however this time in a new sport, I had grown in order to enjoy it fully. If I had to pick one word to describe my first Crossfit competition it would be “Growth.” From growth I gained greater experience in my capabilities and things I need to further improve on in the sport. The biggest thing that flooded my thoughts while competing was to simply have fun!
Of course; I was nervous, anxious, and yet still excited. Allowing myself to have fun in this new environment made the day to day that much more enjoyable.

We will start with @amybennettbright 😁

I started CrossFit in 2010 shortly after the birth of my second son. I remember walking into my first class at Vitality and being immediately hooked. I loved the physical challenge, the varied programming, and the people I was surrounded with. When the Open rolled around in 2011, I figured why not and jumped into the fun. I was officially bitten by the "competition bug" and found myself at Regionals with the Vitality team. The years following that first open were full of lots of competing, meeting great new people, and constantly working on my weaknesses. My biggest "why" through it all is always my two boys. I want to set an example for them to follow on what it looks like to work hard and pursue your goals. I will always take part in our QCFIT "Friday night lights" because I love to watch our members go outside their comfort zones. To discover that they can-do things they never thought they were capable of doing. My competition days may be over for now, but I will always love the excitement the open brings!
Open Madness is upon us! Throughout the 3-week Ope Open Madness is upon us! Throughout the 3-week Open, we will host themed Friday Night Lights every week. All are welcome and encouraged to come cheer on friends!
